He created the heavens, set the sun, moon and stars in place in their perfect sequences in space and suspended by nothing. He made the mountains and hills, thunder and lightning. He created the rainbow, colour, smells, tastes, textures and sounds. And yet in all this He cares for us by sending His only begotten son to be a sacrifice for sin.

Jesus makes the point that God cares for the sparrows. Among His vast creation, sparrows are the most common of birds; they are plain, their voice is not spectacular and it seems as if there are plenty everywhere we look. Yet God cares for them all and he notices when any sparrow falls.

The point is made then, that if God cares so much for every little sparrow, which seems to insignificant, He cares much more for us. If we put Him first in our lives, He will ensure that our needs are met. God knows so much about us, takes so much interest in us, that He even knows how many hairs we have on our heads! He is the great God of the universe and creator of everything. Yet He has time for each sparrow that falls and He has time for us.
