With the knowledge we have of God and the Lord Jesus Christ, those who believe and are baptised are exceptionally and uniquely blessed in this Godless society.

Daily access to God’s Word, and the awareness that God hears our prayers when we appeal to Him in Jesus name, is assisted by our fellowship with each other.

We are instructed by the apostle Paul in 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18 to, “pray without ceasing…in everything give thanks”.

Maybe those of us who do believe sometimes forget that there are angels about us to help us in our daily routines, and maybe we have a personal guardian angel. Jesus in Matthew 18:10 warns: “Take heed that ye despise not one of these little ones; for I say unto you, that in heaven their angels do always behold the face of my Father which is in heaven”. As a child, I remember reading a story about Johnie Appleseed, an itinerant preacher in the US who believed he had a guardian angel that accompanied him as he went about sowing apple seeds, together with the Gospel message. Maybe angels should be included in our personal prayers.

There are many Scriptural accounts of angels involved in the lives of both OT and NT men and women. We are further informed that hospitality may be involved in entertaining angels unawares, Hebrews 13:2: “Be not forgetful to entertain strangers: for thereby some have entertained angels unawares”.

The Lord Jesus’ return will be accompanied by angels, and it should be a comforting thought: “And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, in flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: …….” (1 Thessalonians 1:7-8).

We are not aware when angels came into being. Maybe they have always been with God. They are here to help us. They are, “…ministering spirits, sent forth to minister for them who shall be heirs of salvation” (Hebrews 1:14).

Maybe as immortal beings doing God’s bidding, we should consider angels as our daily help.
