In our daily Bible readings we have recently started reading the book of the prophet Isaiah, and on 1^st June we reach Chapter 24.  Over the last week or so God, through Isaiah, has been describing the events leading right up to our present day.

Isaiah 24 describes what is coming upon the earth as God judges the nations of the world. In V1 we see it is turned upside down, V2 none shall escape, V3 the land will be emptied and spoiled. V5 tells us why this is happening, because “they have transgressed the [God’s] laws, changed the ordinances, broken the everlasting covenant”. V6 tells us the inhabitants “…are burned and few men left”. V20 says “the earth shall reel to and fro like a drunkard”.

It will be a terrible time for the world and those in it, but the responsible people will by this time have been taken to the judgement seat of Christ, and we pray may have been given a white stone and a new name.

Those who believe and are baptised have a wonderful hope of living forever in God’s kingdom on this earth. We have already read Isaiah 2 which describes the idyllic time after the Kingdom is established and soon we shall be reading similar chapters and the blessings of that age.

So let us encourage each other as the day of God’s intervention draws near, keeping our raiment’s unspotted so that by God’s grace and mercy we may be granted a place in that eternal Kingdom, when God will be all and in all.

Finally let us pray for those who know not God so that we might encourage others into the glorious hope we share.
