GOD WILLING

Preaching the Gospel has always been difficult, and it is particularly so in this godless, woke generation. But the inspired word of God directs us, through the apostle James 4:13-15, that we should append “God willing” to all our intentions, whether routine or spiritual.

Jesus came preaching the kingdom of God. It seems logical to proceed as Jesus instructed us to “seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness” (Matthew 6:33). Older people would have learned the ‘Lord’s Prayer’ at school, and although the language has aged, it may still be useful to use the familiar archaic words “Thy kingdom come; Thy will be done on earth as it is now done in heaven.”

Unlike many denominations in Christendom, Christadelphians have not accepted ‘quickie’ conversions. Likewise with our personal preaching, we do it with diligence and perseverance.

Unfortunately, many churches today do not read the Bible in order to direct them in the right understanding of God’s word; consequently, Christendom in some cases has gone astray, accepting certain church dogmas because they fail to go to the source of all knowledge of God and His purpose with planet earth, the Bible. The Foundation of our faith is the Bible. We, therefore, if we wish to come to a true and accurate understanding of God and His Son Jesus Christ must read and study this inspired Word.

Some of us reading this might have learnt church creeds which we have accepted from childhood. Many had great respect for their tutors, and it can be ingrained in their family tradition. So, the question arises, why is there a need to change? Surely the answer must be that God caused His word to be recorded so that we might properly understand Him and his plan and purpose for this earth, otherwise why bother?

Most of us perhaps have never considered how the Bible came into our possession in its present form. It is a miracle. Churches are numerous and sometimes impressive, but their teachings can be inaccurate.

So, God willing, let us use every opportunity to read God’s word so that we might truly come to know the creator of the heavens and the earth.
