Saul, was an up and coming pharisee
He knew exactly what he wanted to be
His life was mapped out, without any doubt
Killing Christians was what he was about.
Off to Caiaphas the high priest Saul went
With authority and papers they sent
Him off on a journey, he wouldn’t forget
So off to Damascus he went.
Twas on his journey that day
That Jesus spoke to Saul to say
“Just what are you doing – to my followers Saul
It just cannot continue this way”.
Right now I will make you blind
Until – you’ve changed your mind
And relinquish your deeds to my followers indeed
For I have great things of you in my mind.
From that moment on Saul was blind
He was led by the hand as a child
To Damascus he went, just as he was sent
To wait for instructions, in due time!
Ananias was Gods chosen man
He said “no not I – not this man”
But God said “do not fear, or shed a tear
I have great things in mind just you see”
So off he went to see Saul
And then he renamed him, Brother Paul
Scales fell from his eyes, and to Paul’s surprise
He could see clearly again once more.
He said – God’s work you must now begin
To make amends for your terrible sin
To the gentiles you must go, to preach the Gospel, you know
A witness as to what happened to you.
So off Paul went on his travels
North / south, east / west, back and forth
Preaching and teaching, set up a new Church
An example to all of us now!
So what does Paul’s story tell us?
About our lives and our work here on earth
Are we more like Paul, surely not the destructive Saul?
Cause Jesus will meet us – one day!
